New blades for the junior squad
The junior squad has been rowing with blades older than most of the squad, held together by tape and optimism. Twelve sculls and a full set of sweep blades arrived on Tuesday, and the first outing with them was Wednesday evening.

They are lighter than the old set by a noticeable margin, which the coaches say will show up first in the last five hundred metres of a piece rather than in the first.
Looking after them
- Rinse after every outing, salt or not
- Sleeves get checked monthly, not when something feels loose
- Damage goes in the book the same day
- The old set stays on the bottom rack for learn-to-row
They are not faster than you. They are just lighter than what you had.
